A few months ago, CADC wrote about a Virginia city council member who was being prosecuted for praying in Jesus’ name. After appealing the first decision, Rev. Hashmel Turner, a citizen of Fredericksburg, Virginia and former member of the town council, was told by the 4th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals that his prayers during city council meetings that ended in Jesus' name will continue to be banned. Now chaplains in Virginia are also being denied their right to pray in Jesus’ name. Recently, Navy Chaplain Klingenschmitt, along with 5 other chaplains, were fired for continuing to pray in Jesus' name. In an attempt to see this ban lifted 86 pastors from Virginia are asking that Governor Kaine reinstate Chaplain Klingenschmitt, along with the other 5 chaplains fired. Also, the pastors will be holding a state-wide prayer rally at the Governors mansion to honor these chaplains and to ask pray that this ban would be changed. For more information click here.
