Every year the Academy Awards is becoming more irrelevant as they become more hostile to Christian values. In 1998, 55 Million people watched the Award show. In 2009 it was down to 36 million. This last broadcast will certainly not bring families back with its unrelenting attack on God and common decency.

Commie Homo-lovers Unite!

After winning the Oscar for best actor for his portrayal of homosexual Harvey Milk, Sean Penn greeted the Academy of motion pictures with a startling but truthful salutation. He called them “Commie, homo-loving sons of guns!”

The gap between normal Americans and Hollywood elites could not be more pronounced. The fact that the Academy did not boo Penn off the stage for such a slur is indicative of the bankrupt, libertine values of Hollywood.

In his speech Penn had the audacity to chastise the majority of California voters for upholding traditional marriage.

“I think it's a good time for those who voted for the ban against gay marriage to sit and reflect on their great shame, and their shame in their grandchildren's eyes if they continue that support,” said Penn. “We've got to have equal rights for everyone.”

Who does Penn think he is to tell Californians to be ashamed? Penn, who shamelessly supports oppressive Marxist regimes like that of Hugo Chaves and Fidel Castro, is the last one who ought to lecture anyone. Thankfully, every time normal Americans outside of Hollywood get to vote on marriage, Penn and his perverted Hollywood values lose.

But of course, the Academy audience madly applauded as Penn took shots at normal Americans.  The applause is “mad” in another sense. It is utter madness for Hollywood to support murderous, atheistic communism. The very freedom Penn and Hollywood enjoy in America to spew their mindless poison does not exist when those fuzzy, friendly Commies rule.

It is madness to embrace sexual perversions that infects and kills the bodies and souls of millions. It is ironic that Hollywood liberals wear their red AIDs ribbons on their lapels and then madly pontificate to America about the virtues of sodomy.

Insult to Injury

In what is perhaps the most egregious act of blasphemy on the broadcast, Dustin Lance Black, who won the Oscar for best screen writer for Milk, presumptuously took it upon himself to speak for God.

"If Harvey had not been taken from us 30 years ago, I think he would want me to say to all the gay and lesbian kids out there tonight who have been told they are less than by the churches, by the government, by their families, that you are beautiful, wonderful creatures of value, and that no matter what anyone tells you, God does love you and that very soon, I promise you, you will have equal rights, federally, across this great nation of ours. Thank you, God, for Harvey Milk!"

It is not clear where “Reverend” Black was ordained, but he is profoundly theologically illiterate. No one disputes that every human being, even sexually confused homosexuals, bear the image of God. As a result, they have great value. But to say that God loves everyone regardless of their willful, sinful rebellion is blasphemous.

God so loved a sinful world that he sent Christ to suffer and die on behalf of sinners who cannot save themselves. Our many sins have separated us from a Holy God. His righteous wrath justly abides on us all. God graciously extends his salvation to those who will humbly acknowledge their sin, even homosexual sin, and who turn from it and believe in Christ. That’s the gospel truth. Lance Black needs to go back to Sunday School.

Sign Posts for Gomorrah

The tired evening was sprinkled with old liberal sexual platitudes like that of host Hugh Jackman who described the message of Milk as, “It’s okay to be gay.” This is right out of the homosexual activist lexicon. Homosexuals are anything but gay. Nor is sodomy “OK,” no matter how many times they repeat the lie.

Not to be biased towards male sexual perversion, the Hollywood perverts in the Academy awarded naked actresses, too.

Marisa Tomei, who plays a stripper in The Wrestler won for showing that “a stripper doesn’t have to lose her dignity when taking off her clothes.” Now that’s a great message for our little girls. Go ahead and act like a hussy, but don’t worry, we will all respect you as you are sexually exploited.

No Academy Award show would be complete unless new progress is made along on the road to Gomorrah. A new moral low for pop culture was crossed when the Academy awarded Actress Kate Winslet an Oscar for her performance as a pedophile who repeatedly seduces a fifteen year old boy.

She and the whole production company ought to be arrested for child pornography, but instead Hollywood perverts applaud them for being enlightened.

Hollywood rejects the idea that sex is reserved for marriage. The truth is, only sex within the marriage covenant is blessed by God and provides true “one flesh” human intimacy. Every other sexual relationship is sinful and empty.

God War

It would not be a wonderful night in Hollywood without the perfunctory swipe on anyone who takes their faith seriously.

Meryl Streep was praised for portraying an old fashioned, strict Catholic nun who struggles with herself and the fact that modern times are passing her by. Conservative religious beliefs and values are relic of the past to be mocked by the snarky tuxedo wearing elites.

Serial Christian Basher and outspoken atheist Bill Maher said, “Someday we’ll have to confront the notion that our silly gods cost the world too greatly.” The audience applauds dutifully.

Maher, whose atheistic documentary, Religious, failed miserably at the box office, fails to mention the 100 million dead in the 20^th century at the hands of brutal atheist governments.

The self-congratulatory obsession that is Hollywood, with all it hollow award shows, is no substitute for God’s approval. We need to reclaim the motion picture industry and use it in ways that glorifies God. Praise God for Christians who are called to minister in Hollywood. Christians need to support the movies that reflect our values.
