President Obama and Congress are poised to force a socialist nightmare onto the American people. The proposed government run health care system is an ethical catastrophe if you believe in the sanctity of life.  

First, your tax dollars will pay for taking the life of innocent unborn babies through abortion. Rep. Lois Capps (D-Calif.) just recently introduced an amendment that would make taxpayer-funded abortion mandatory as part of the health care reform. The measure passed in committee 30-28.

This measure not only makes sure that abortion is provided for and covered, but also that abortions be made available throughout every U.S. region. No longer will states be able to regulate their abortion laws. It would become a federal issue and all the hard won gains of pro-lifers will be destroyed.

This should not come as a surprise as Congress has had multiple opportunities to ban abortion coverage, but have not. Pro-life members have tried many times with no success to get Congress to directly prohibit taxpayer-funded abortions from this bill. This is Planned Parenthood’s dream come true. With this new proposal, “family planning” funding would be mandatory.

So much for Obama’s promise to compromise on the life issue and work to limit the number of abortions.  

Rep. Anh “Joseph” Coa from New Orleans, the first Vietnamese-American congressman and a Catholic, recently came out in opposition to this bill, saying “I know that voting against the health care bill will probably be the death of my political career, but I have to live with myself, and I always reflect on the phrase of the New Testament, ‘How does it profit a man's life to gain the world but to lose his soul.’”

Secondly, this bill is dangerous for all senior citizens. Under this new health care reform, life will be considered a liability as you grow older. Some faceless bureaucrat in Washington will be telling your doctor what he can and cannot do to improve or extend your life.

One of many shocking new “reforms” is found on page 425 of the bill. It makes it mandatory that every 5 years people in Medicare will have a counseling session on how to end their life sooner through methods of dehydration, declining their nutritional intake (starvation), and through hospice care (vs. hospital care). Within this 5 year period, if you get sick, you will have to go through the session again.

So if you want to be a “good citizen” in the brave new world of Obama’s socialized health care system, you must be subjected to propaganda about the glory of self-murder and pressured to partake. How long will it be before you will simply be told you will not get care whether you like or not. 

In nations that have government run health care it is a nightmare. People die while waiting in line for treatments that Americans have access to every day. We already know that eighty percent of Americans are happy with their current coverage. So why destroy what works?

Remember, Karl Marx once said, "First you socialize medicine and everything else follows like night follows day." Don’t let the radicals in Congress manipulate you by their fear mongering and demonizing insurance companies. We don’t need the same government that bankrupted Social Security and Medicare to control the greatest healthcare system in the world.
