Another chapter in the ongoing struggle of seventeen year old Rifqa Bary has resulted in an important victory.

Rifqa, who fled from her Ohio home to a church in Florida, became the subject of national attention when she claimed her father, who is a devout Muslim, had threatened to kill her because she had converted to Christianity. According to the Koran, Rifqa is considered a heretic worthy of death, and she had already suffered beatings at home and truly feared for her life.

Rifqa’s case has revealed that the horrible practice of Muslim honor killings has come to the US. The hearing has also revealed how radical the Mosque in Ohio is where Rifqa’s family attends. In fact, the Council for American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) has gotten involved in the hearings. CAIR has also been tied to terrorist organizations.

Thankfully, all the motions made by the Bary family attorney to force Rifqa to return to Ohio were rejected. For now she will be staying in Florida. During the next thirty days she has been ordered to seek mediation between her and her family.
