Empty Promises and YOUR Money Print E-mail

Obama and Healthcare BillIn March, the new healthcare bill was passed by Congress with a promise from President Obama that not one penny of taxpayer money would go towards funding abortions. To convince wavering members of congress to vote for the bill, Obama signed an executive order that was supposed to insure there were no taxpayer funded abortions. Now we know it was only a political ploy to get the bill passed.

The Department of Health and Human Services just gave the state of Pennsylvania one hundred sixty million dollars to set up an insurance pool that will include coverage for abortions.

Just as we warned, the language in the Healthcare bill trumps Obama’s empty promises and executive order. Now we are forced to pay for the taking of innocent life.

TAKE ACTION:

Help us stand up to this unconscionable situation by supporting a proposed bill to ban all abortion funding. Contact House Republican Leader John Boehner and support his efforts to codify the Hyde Amendment, thus prohibiting all authorized and appropriated federal funds from being used to pay for abortion.

Violent Persecution Continues in Iraq Print E-mail
Thursday, 15 July 2010 17:08

Iraqi Church Reports of persecution against Iraqi Christians were increasing in 2007, so Dr. Gary Cass, along with other ministers, flew to Baghdad to meet with Iraqi Prime Minister Al Malaki. While there, they urged that Malaki’s government protect the minority Christian community. Al Malaki made assurances that his government wouldn’t tolerate violence against religious minorities, but Iraqi Christians continue to be harassed and murdered.

Recently an Iraqi Christian, 34-year-old Hani Salim Wadi, was shot in front of his home in Kirkuk leaving behind a wife and daughter. Other Christians in Kirkuk have been the target of intimidation and violence.

The Christian community in Iraq is one of the most ancient Christian communities. This historic Christian community must be protected by the new Iraqi government.

TAKE ACTION:

Help us urge the State Department to pressure the Iraqi government to protect our Iraqi Christian brothers and sisters.

Christian Professor Unjustly Fired Print E-mail
Tuesday, 13 July 2010 16:08

Ken HowellKen Howell was a professor at the University of Illinois Champaign who taught Introduction to Catholicism and Modern Catholic Thought, and was known to be a Catholic himself. During the course, Howell included a section on the relationship of moral law and natural law. Using homosexual behavior as an example, he said based on natural law Catholics believe sexual acts are only appropriate for people who are complementary, not the same.

Howell accurately taught what Catholics believe, but a student complained to the university and Howell was subsequently fired. The university said his teachings violated the university’s standards of inclusivity. Apparently, inclusivity only includes people who promote sinful, unnatural acts. This is clearly anti-religious bigotry and view point discrimination.

TAKE ACTION:

Help send a message to the University of Illinois to stop censoring religious speech and allow for intellectual freedom and honest debate. Contact the University of Illinois President, Michael Hogan, and urge that he reinstate Ken Howell.

Block Kagan's Appointment! Print E-mail
Monday, 12 July 2010 16:07

Senator Jeff SessionsThe hearings in the Senate on President Obama’s nominee for the U S Supreme Court, Elena Kagan, are coming to a close. But a quick survey of Kagan’s past shows that she is unqualified for the bench.

Kagan has never served as a judge, but she has been part of leading a radical, liberal political ideology, especially on the homosexual and pro-abortion agendas.  Supreme Court appointees should be experienced judges who have a proven loyalty to the Constitution and restrained judicial philosophy. But Kagan is merely a political ideologue, who will twist the constitution to advance her personal politics.

Help urge the Senate to block Kagan’s confirmation. To do so, seven members on the Judiciary Committee must vote against her appointment, otherwise a radical judicial activist will be appointed to the Supreme Court FOR LIFE!

TAKE ACTION:

Contact these seven members of the Judiciary Committee TODAY!

New Resolution to Investigate Christians Arrests Print E-mail
Friday, 09 July 2010 16:43

Tim McMillinJust a few weeks ago, four Christians were falsely arrested and jailed for speaking about Jesus at an Arab Festival in Dearborn, Michigan. Last year, the Dearborn police falsely arrested the same Christians at the same event, but the charges were eventually dismissed.

When the police arrested the Christians this time they were peacefully witnessing to people who first approached them because of the message of God’s love they wore on their shirts. The police charged the Christians with disorderly conduct and confiscated their video cameras which prove their innocence.

We urged you to contact state officials and demand an investigation of the Dearborn Police. And they’ve listened.

Michigan House member Tom McMillin has authored a resolution urging the State Attorney General to investigate the arrests, but he needs more votes to get it passed. Help us keep pressure on the Michigan legislature.

Call the Michigan legislature today and urge that they pass this resolution and begin investigating the arrests.

TAKE ACTION:

Contact Michigan State's Speaker of the House Andy Dillon and Minority leader Kevin Elsenheimer and urge that they support this resolution.
